Short Biography

 

Susan S. McDonald

 

 

 

 

 
 

Susan McDonald received her B.A. from Sweet Briar College in Virginia. She studied Chinese landscape painting in Taiwan with Sun Yuen Sung before returning to Berkeley, California to study etching with Kathan Brown at Crown Point Press. She then traveled to Japan to complete her studies in printmaking and worked with Toshi Yoshida in Tokyo for three years. She came to Minnesota in 1974 and soon joined the group of women artists founding W.A.R.M. ( the Women’s Art Registry of Minnesota). In 1995 she joined The Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art. She had her first one woman show at the Frannell Gallery in Tokyo, Japan, and has since exhibited in New York, London and Minneapolis. Her work is in collections at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Walker Art Center and other collections.
